Preventing Common Fitness Chicago Wardrobe Malfunctions

Do you find yourself constantly tugging at your shirt to hold it down and avoid exposing your thong’s “whale tail” during cycling class? Do you sweat more than prudent during your cardio? The more you work out, the more your clothes are going to be prone to malfunction. Unfortunately, this fact is true! Even though tennis stars like Venus Williams and performers like Janet Jackson have had their fair share of wardrobe malfunctions, you can prevent some of these most common Chicago fitness center occurrences.

Chicago Weight Loss Center Emergency Situation #1: Split Pants

Doing yoga can really bust your threads. Somewhere between Downward Dog and the Extended Triangle, your yoga pants are bound to split down the seams. The best way to prevent this sort of wardrobe malfunction is to inspect your clothes after every workout and after every washing to be sure the seams aren’t starting to get worn. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and buy a new pair! Carrying a safety pin or two could really save the day during an emergency too.  Keep your eye out for high-quality yoga pants like Lululemon Athletics or New Balance that are less likely to rip.

Chicago Fitness Center Emergency Situation #2: Sweat Stains

Sweat pits are not only stinky but will also ruin your clothes in a hurry. Sweat stains can also appear in very unsightly places to look more like you’ve wet yourself like singer Fergie in San Diego circa 2009. To prevent this terrible wardrobe malfunction, your best bet is to test out all new workout clothes at home first, where you don’t have to be publicly embarrassed should your outfit call attention to your sweat zones.  Also look for sweat-wicking material when shopping. According to Weight Watches, a few good sweat-proof choices include: Mizuno Ascend running shorts, Lucy Breakthru singlet, Saucony Micro Mélange V short sleeve, Mizuno Meridian skirt, and CW-X Stabilyx Ventilator shorts.

Chicago Fitness Center Emergency Situation #3: Flashing

Yoga runs the biggest risk for an unwanted flashing, but “headlights” can appear in any aerobics or cycling class where shirts are tight, body temperatures are high and room temperatures are cool. It’s a perfect storm of embarrassment, really! To avoid flashing, try out your clothes at home first. Buy shirts that have bras built in or wear bras with padding to prevent this common mishap. They also sell “petal” coverings for women who don’t typically wear bras while working out. Avoid flashing the netherworld by wearing tight spandex capris.
